All-inclusive service

We provide producers and importers with an all-inclusive service so that they can fulfil their legal obligations under the terms of the AEEA regulations (in Dutch) in a cost-efficient manner.

National coverage

We maintain a network of 10,000 collection points all over the country, located at municipal collection points and shops.

Not-for-profit

We are a non-profit organisation and work on behalf of six product foundations for 1,500 producers and importers. Check here to see whether we also work for you.

How can we help you?

  • Do the AEEA regulations apply to me?

If you bring electrical appliances, low-energy light bulbs or luminaires onto the Dutch market, as described in the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (AEEA) regulations, you have certain obligations. There is a full overview of them in the AEEA regulations, for which the government has produced a guide for readers (both in Dutch).

If your company sells electrical products directly to end-users in the Netherlands from abroad (through an online shop, for example), you are covered by the Dutch AEEA regulations. Not sure if you are a producer or importer? Check using the link below.

  • What are my obligations?

The most important obligations are grouped as follows:

    Producer or importer

    • Providing information to Wecycle for registration on the Nationaal (W)EEE Register.
    • Declaring imported or produced electrical appliances and low-energy light bulbs and luminaires (quantities and weights) that you put on the Dutch market, per quarter or per year.
    • Marking electrical devices and low-energy lamps with symbols in the form of a crossed-out movable waste container. Example:

    Wecycle

    • Collecting and processing, including funding of all types of e-waste, according to compulsory standards.
    • Registering with and reporting to the Nationaal (W)EEE Register.
    • For companies based abroad and which sell electrical products directly to Dutch end-users, Wecycle appoints a product foundation as the authorised representative in the Netherlands.

For more information, please contact us by e-mail or on telephone +31 (0)79 7600 630.

  • What are my obligations in relation to low-energy light bulbs and luminaires?

As a producer or importer of low-energy light bulbs or luminaires, you are legally obliged to organize your collection and reporting via the LightRec Foundation (Stichting LightRec Nederland). This also applies to companies that sell low-energy light bulbs or professional luminaires from abroad directly to end-users in the Netherlands. LightRec engages the services of Wecycle to actually carry out the collection and make the reports.

For more information, please contact us by e-mail or on telephone +31 (0)79 7600 630.

  • What are the fees?

We are the only non-profit organization in the Netherlands which organizes the collection and recycling of e-waste. The costs for the collection and recycling of e-waste are borne by the producers and importers, who are affiliated to one or more product foundations. They set the fees.

  • What is the relationship between Wecycle, the product foundations and the NVMP?

Wecycle is the organization that arranges the collection and recycling of e-waste. We do this on behalf of six product foundations, to which a total of 1,500 producers and importers are affiliated. The product foundations cooperate in the Association NVMP, which represents the collective interests of the producers. The product foundations affiliated to the NVMP finance the collection and recycling of the e-waste.

  • I have another question - who can I ask?

    You can send an e-mail or call +31 (0)79 7600 630.

Optimum recycling

You can contribute towards SRE by preserving raw materials. At the same time, you prevent harmful substances entering the environment. You run no risk of damaging your reputation as a result of illegal trading.

Social return

We support local authorities via Wecycle Service Centres in helping people who are struggling to return to the labour market to find a job or to study.

What is learned in the cradle lasts to the tomb

As a producer or importer, you can help young people and their parents to learn how to deal with e-waste thanks to a collaborative partnership with 2,000 schools and 165 petting zoo’s.

Any questions?

If so, please contact us by e-mail or on telephone +31 (0)79 7600 630.
